Great news! We found out last week that we’re a grant recipient for Sappi Fine Paper’s Ideas that Matter Program. That means that over the next six months, Greg can keep designing some awesome communication materials for Hello Rewind. To see the other recipients (or if you’re a designer who wants to enter next year!), take a look at Sappi’s press release.
For months, people have been asking us for better photos of our products. So a few weeks ago, we decided to buckle down and make a true photoshoot happen. We sent out a call for volunteers to our friends and communities, and we had a generous outpouring of help for photoshoot last Saturday.
To everyone who was a part of it — we couldn’t have done it without you. We had so much fun seeing everything come together… and we can’t wait to show off all the amazing talent that went into the shoot in our website and in all our communication materials.
For now, here is a teaser video that one of our photographers, Jon Freeland, put together.

Our friends at Restore NYC co-hosted the movie premiere for REDLIGHT, a documentary produced by Lucy Liu bringing awareness to the plight of sex trafficking victims in Cambodia.
In celebration of the the release of REDLIGHT, we’re offering up our second special edition laptop sleeve. Our Hope design showcases our own hope for the future for each of the women we work with and fight to protect. The sleeves are individually crafted using recycled white/light t-shirts and other recycled materials and are screenprinted in red.

We were just named a finalist in Businessweek’s second annual roundup of America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs. It’s an amazing honor to be alongside companies such as Organic Valley and Mission Measurement as we all strive towards a better world.
Voting for the top 5 companies is going on now and ends on June 26th. Please help us out by going to the vote page and voting for Hello Rewind.
Our photographer friend (and fellow officemate) Chris Lynch was kind enough to donate his services for our photo. You can check out his work and buy one of his screenprinted t-shirts at instilled images. Thanks, Chris!
Our amazing intern Crystal is graduating and leaving New York City in May. We’re extremely sad to lose her, but that means we’re on the lookout for her replacement!
This April, we’re interviewing for a summer Fellowship position. You’ll work directly with the Hello Rewind team in growing the business and helping the sex trafficking survivors we support. If you’re interested (or know someone who might be!) please follow this link to learn more and apply.

*Special Note: For the summer Fellowship position, we can only accept female applicants. Both male and female volunteers help out with Hello Rewind, but because of the nature of the work, we cannot have males working directly with the female sex trafficking survivors (and the Fellow will work hands-on with the women in Queens). For males who want to help out, please send us an e-mail and we can figure out a way to use you! :)
Psst… we’re about ready to launch our retail laptop sleeves!
If you’re in NYC, soon you can buy a kit in a store and send us your
This is the wave of change we aim to create.
Above all — care. About people, places, objects made with love — not just disposable, commoditized stuff.

It always amazes us — and shows us the true power of the internet and social media — when people e-mail from abroad asking about Hello Rewind laptop sleeves. Since it’s more expensive to ship back and forth internationally, we always ask those outside the United States if they can mail us their t-shirts directly, while we ship the final product back for free.
Lauri from Helsinki, Finland sent us her Prince t-shirt in this beautiful Marrimekko bubble wrapper. It’s almost too nice to open!
